A year in the life of a service member and/or family member is full of planning. It may be preparation for a permanent change of station (PCS) move, deployment, separation from the military, professional changes, or childhood transitions. For families enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), each of these milestones may present additional planning requirements.
Nonetheless, most successful planning strategies are accompanied by strong goal setting techniques.
The EFMP offers assistance and tools to set achievable goals and maximize success through needs assessments and services planning designed to 1) recognize a need, 2) identify a goal, 3) brainstorm actionable objectives, and 4) establish a time frame for completion.
Your Family Caseworker will provide assistance and support along the way through active listening, information and referral, and one-on-one support to ensure goals remain achievable.
The EFMP has experience in assisting families on an array of topics, such as:
- Housing accommodations
- Disability-related law
- Individualized Education Program (IEP) support
- PCS transition
- Deployment preparedness
